No cookies, no tracking

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, tracking or advertising services. Fonts are loaded from our own server.

Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted on a server operated on our behalf by Contabo GmbH, Aschauer Straße 32a, 81549 Munich, Germany; the data centre is located in the European Union. Whenever a page is requested, the web server records the IP address, date and time, requested address, browser type and version, operating system, request status and, where applicable, the previously visited page (referrer).

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website. The data is deleted or anonymised as soon as it is no longer needed for this purpose; in the event of a security incident, it is retained until the incident has been resolved.

Images and credits

Images are loaded from our own server. Our own photographs are labelled accordingly. Additional images from Wikimedia Commons display the creator, licence and original source alongside the image. These model illustrations do not show the specific item in the collection. The terms are available through the respective licence link.

Your browser only connects to the linked website when you open a source or licence link.

YouTube videos

Videos are loaded only when you click on the video. Your browser then connects to YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), embedded via youtube-nocookie.com. Your IP address and the page requested, among other information, are transmitted; Google may also transfer data to the USA. The legal basis is your consent through clicking (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Contact by email

The contact form opens your own email application; the website itself does not store form data. We use your message and details only to process your enquiry (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR) and delete them as soon as they are no longer needed for this purpose and no statutory retention requirements apply. The mailbox is operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (Gmail). Google may also process the data required to transmit and store emails outside the European Economic Area; for transfers to the USA, Google states that it relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, where necessary, the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18) and data portability (Article 20).
