The PIKO dat is a computer toy released in 1969 by VEB PIKO Sonneberg (Piko Elektronik). From the accompanying booklet:

At a time when aircraft with supersonic speed cross the continents, in which science and technology are developing more and more stormy, man prepares himself for a grip on the stars.
>Never before has such a wealth of knowledge, knowledge and experience been available to people than in our time.
In order to solve the increasingly complex tasks in science and technology, man must also create new tools, tools that enable him to relieve his thoughts from routine work in order to put them fully at the service of creative development.
>The COMPUTER is one such tool.
>But even the computer cannot do without the human being. He can carry out complicated calculations in incomparably shorter time spans than man, he can store data, control complicated machines, he can even construct, but he can only do it if man dominates him, if he gives him the ability to do it beforehand, or in other words, if he programs it.
>In the future, therefore, more and more specialists will be needed to work with such devices and to use them in a meaningful way. The time is near when mastery of the basics of computer technology belongs to general education.
>For this reason, the VEB PIKO has
>Computer toys PIKO dat
>created a device that, in addition to communicating knowledge in the game, also stimulates logical thinking and offers the opportunity to put your own ideas into practice and master the important basics of computer technology.
