Console Computers

Having already in the second generation many console manufacturers with moderate success try to expand their machines to home computers, several manufacturers of home computers in the third generation go the reverse way. Amstrad, Atari and Commodore want to participate in the ever more lucrative console business with simplified versions of their successful home computers without having to invest significant development costs – apart from the missing keyboard, the console computers are largely identical to their home computer variants. The plan does not work out: the three systems are already outdated at the time of their appearance and become commercial failures.
