Duck Hunt

Summary

Kôsenjû (light gun) Duck Hunt is one of the last electronic toys Nintendo produces. It is developed once again by Gunpei Yokoi, together with Masayuki Uemura, the later designer of Famicom. It allows a simulated duck hunt using a lightgun and a projector. The Lightgun emits a focused beam of light when the trigger is activated. The projector throws an image on a wall that looks like a duck moving through the room. The duck is animated by movements of the mirror in the projector. When the light beam of the Lightgun hits the place where the duck is located, it falls with a quack. This is made possible by the light of the Lightgun bounces off the wall and is reflected into the projector. A photocell inside then registers the light of the Lightgun and triggers the animation of the hit bird.

Based on this toy, eight years later the well-known NES game Duck Hunt appears.
