PC Engine Duo R/Duo RX
Summary
The PC Engine Duo R appeared in March 1993. It has a more curved design than the original Duo and a grey-white case. The CD tray is slightly different, and there is no headphone output. In June 1994, NEC and Hudson Soft released the PC Engine Duo RX, with further minor visual changes and a modified gamepad featuring six action buttons.
Among PC Engine fans, the various PC Engine Duo variants are now among the most popular incarnations of the console family. On the one hand, they have a rather simple and timeless design. On the other hand, it is not necessary to connect them to hardware add-ons in order to be able to play CD-ROM titles at all.
