Nintendo 3DS
Summary
The Nintendo 3DS is the successor to the Nintendo DS and was launched in spring 2011. The 3DS is the first game console that can display autostereoscopic 3D content. Thus, there is no need for special 3D glasses to be able to perceive the content. Compared to its predecessors, the display is somewhat wider and the control elements are also complemented by an additional analog stick. Due to the backward compatibility, all games developed for the predecessors of the DS series can easily be played, but no more Game Boy Advance-Cartridges. In March 2011, more than 50,000 Nintendo 3DS were sold in Germany within the first two days. Nintendo thus reported a new peak value for a handheld sales start.
