Summary

Space Invaders has been one of the cornerstones of video game history since 1978 alongside Pac-Man. Space Invaders was programmed by Japanese Toshihiro Nishikado, who worked for Taito Corporation from the 1970s to 1996. Today, the rights lie with Taito, and in order to recall the game, after 25 years, the company released the “Space Invaders Anniversary” (“Space Invaders Anniversary”) special edition for Sony PlayStation 2, also known as “Space Invaders 25th Anniversary Edition”. The game (Product ID TCPS-10069) released in July 2003 follows a bundle of game and controller (Product ID TCPS-10074) in September 2003. The small tabletop controller, which is placed on the table and looks like a mini arcade device, is to be emphasized in the set that only appeared in Japan. The conventional PS2 controller is housed in the device and movements are passed on to the controller with a clever mechanism.
