Schneider CPC464, GT65-2 Green Monitor

Summary

The Schneider CPC464 (CPC for Colour Personal Computer) is the German version of the Amstrad CPC464 with minimal adaptation for the German market (shielding). At the time, Amstrad did not have its own German sales channel, so the company cooperated with Schneider. (This cooperation was abruptly terminated when Schneider did not want to sell the standard PCs from Amstrad.) The good keyboard and the combination of monitor and computer are to be highlighted; the monitor itself is supplied with the main voltage and the CPC gets the voltage from the monitor. The monitor has two fixed cables, one for the video signal and one for the power supply of the computer. So no extra cables are necessary. Due to its good properties, the Schneider/Amstrad CPC464 was one of the most popular small computers in Europe, especially since the price was very good and “everything came out of a box”. In the Schneider/Amstrad series stood the CPC464 with cassette deck, followed by the CPC664 with disk drive, then the CPC6128 with more memory. Later, 464plus, 6128plus and the game console GX4000 were added. A special model CPC472 for Spain has 72 KiB internal memory, of which however only 64 KiB can be addressed.
