Colour Genie (EG2000)

Summary
The company EACA from Hong Kong builds computers from 1975 to 1983, such as Apple II clones and computers based on Tandy’s TRS-80. The latter appear as Video Genie or Genie. 1982 follows the Colour Genie by EACA. TCS Computer GmbH (Trommeschläger Computer Studio) takes over, as with its predecessors, the sales department for Germany and develops software for the device.
While Tandy changes from the Z80 to the Motorola 6809 on the TRS Color Computer, the Colour Genie stays with the Z80. However, the BASIC provides far-reaching compatibility — apart from audio/video. The resolution is 160 × 96 points with four displayable colors: red-orange, green, blue, black. Unusual is a level meter to control the recording quality and the built-in speaker.
In this country the computer is quite unknown, because it cannot prevail against the much better equipped Commodore 64. Shortly after its publication EACA and subsequently also TCS declare bankruptcy.
