Elektronika BK-0010-01

Summary
The BK-0010 is a Soviet home computer sold under the Elektronika brand and developed by the NPO Scientific Center in Zelenograd. Introduced in 1983 and mass-produced from 1985, it cost 600 to 650 roubles. Its 3 MHz K1801VM1 processor is compatible with DEC’s PDP-11 computer family. Half of its 32 KB RAM serves as video memory; the display offers 512 × 256 monochrome pixels or 256 × 256 pixels in four colours.
The original BK-0010 has FOCAL and a debugger in ROM, along with a notorious membrane keyboard without perceptible key travel. The BK-0010-01 instead has Vilnius BASIC in ROM, with FOCAL available only on a cartridge. Its keyboard has real keys, although these tend to stick and suffer from contact bounce. The school version, BK-0010Sh, includes a network adapter for computer classrooms.
