Sega Family Driver
Summary
Sega’s Family Driver is a special console: it’s a kind of racing game in which the events on the screen are not influenced, nor can you speak of a real video game as a computer program.
To play, a sensor bar is placed at the bottom of a TV screen. On the TV screen, images of a real car race are shown using a VHS cassette, the lower edge of the video image being white lights that show the sensor the location of obstacles. With the help of a steering wheel, the player now directs a real plastic car that moves on this bar. Since the car is located directly on the screen, the illusion is created to be part of the drive. If the car stays on the track, points are credited on a scoreboard on the steering wheel.
A VHS-cassette is included in the box, two more appear with enclosed alternative toy cars.
