Gakken Compact Vision TV Boy

Summary

The Japanese manufacturer Gakken successfully produces electronic toys and arcade machines in the 1980s. The Compact Vision TV Boy will be released in October 1983, three months after Famicom. Its striking design distinguishes it from all other consoles before or after: the controller is not removable, the T-shaped joystick is firmly connected to the console. Due to this construction, games are basically not designed for more than one player. Since the very light TV Boy would slide continuously due to strong play movements, Gakken gives him a handle with which the console can be held. For left-handed people, this further complicates the already cumbersome handling.

The console is not going to be successful, it is almost forgotten even today among professionals. Also the exact number of released games is unknown, probably six.
