KOMTEK-1 microcomputer, Model KT 1001

Summary
The KOMTEK-1 is a rare clone of Tandy’s TRS-80 Model I. Like the original, it uses a Z80 processor and includes Level II BASIC. It has 16 KB RAM and 12 to 16 KB ROM, depending on configuration. According to the manual, it is a complete unit with power supply and memory inside the case. Its control functions are unusual, allowing it to switch devices on and off and read sensors.
Its manufacturer is not entirely clear. The manuals name Komtek Computers Ltd. on their covers, collectors cite Germany’s S.C.S. GmbH, and other sources describe a Hong Kong device sold by an Australian dealer. The MAME emulator lists the Komtek 1 under 1983. The Radionic R1001 is almost identical: the two computers have identical ROM contents, and the Komtek 1 was probably licensed to Radionic.
