Nintendo Game Boy Pocket

Summary
After Nintendo launched the Game Boy in 1989, the Game Boy Pocket (GBP) was the first update of the successful Handheld console and Game Boy series in 1996. It is lighter and smaller than its predecessor (hence the name “Pocket”), the display is slightly larger (65 mm versus 59 mm) and more contrasting. The image reproduction is now really black/white and no longer suffers from the green tint of the original Game Boy. Instead of four AA batteries like the previous one, the Game Boy Pocket has two AAA batteries with which it runs for up to 25 hours. However, the display did not offer backlight, which followed only with the successor, the Game Boy Light. Because of the small housing Nintendo reduced the interface for the connection cable (link cable). A power LED to display the battery status did not have the first Japanese devices, it followed later. There were no changes for game developers.
