Nintendo Game Boy Series

Summary

The Game Boy from Japanese company Nintendo is by far the world’s most successful handheld console. Interchangeable cartridges allow it to play a wide range of games, replacing the fixed built-in titles of the Game & Watch series.

Nintendo has expanded the Game Boy to the series, which starts in 1989:

• Game Boy (Classic) (1989)
• Game Boy Special Edition (1995)
• Game Boy Pocket (1996)
• Game Boy Light (1998)
• Game Boy Color (1998)
• Game Boy Advance (2001)
• Game Boy Advance SP (2003)
• Game Boy Micro (2005)

A total of about 200 million units worldwide were sold to customers.
