Bandai Family Trainer

Summary
Three years after the Famicom’s release, Bandai introduced the Family Trainer accessory. The mat is laid on the floor, and its printed buttons respond to pressure, sending the player’s movements to the console. In the USA, it was named Family Fun Fitness System to echo the Nintendo Entertainment System and was bundled with Stadium Events. Nintendo recognised the potential and bought the US rights to the mat and game after only a few days. They were re-released together as Power Pad and World Class Track Meet. The original US version of Stadium Events is therefore among the rarest NES games today. In 2007, Nintendo successfully revived the 1986 concept with the Wii Balance Board.
