Tandy TRS-80 Model III

Summary
In July 1980, Tandy replaced the TRS-80 Model I with the Model III. New FCC radio-interference rules taking effect in 1981 prompted the change, as the Model I did not comply. The Model III combines computer, screen, keyboard and up to two floppy drives in one case, reducing the number of cables. Its Z80A runs at 2.03 MHz, with memory ranging from 4 to 48 KB.
Launch prices ranged from $699 for 4 KB and Level I BASIC to $2,495 for 48 KB, two drives and RS-232. Model I BASIC programs run fully; according to Tandy, compatibility covered around 80 per cent of software overall. The Model 4 succeeded it in 1983.
