Atari Lynx II

Summary

In 1991, Atari released the Lynx II, a revised Atari Lynx with several useful improvements.

The housing is significantly more compact with the dimensions 23.5 x 10.8 x 5.1 cm, and modules can also be used more easily. The Lynx II is lighter than its predecessor and supports stereo sound at the headphone output. Users complain that audio output has become quieter.

The backlight can be switched on and off by a switch. Technical improvements reduce power consumption by 15%. The hardware update and switched off backlight increases the operating time by up to 2 hours.

After 5 minutes of inactivity, the predecessor automatically switches to sleep mode, which means losing the game level. This upset many players, so Atari realizes a different power saving measure: after 5 minutes, only the screen shuts down.
