Bally Astrocade

Summary
“Astrocade” is only the most common name of this console. The device is announced in 1977 by the US manufacturer Bally as Bally Home Library Computer, and is then available as Bally Professional Arcade, Bally Computer System and Bally Astrocade.
The console’s graphics chip is the same as Bally’s in many arcade machines. Astrocade’s graphics are therefore extremely detailed compared to other consoles of this time.
The joystick at the top of the controller contains a potentiometer and serves as a paddle at the same time. This and the 24 buttons on the console itself make the Astrocade the device with the most input possibilities up to now.
In addition to 28 different games, the Astrocade has a BASIC module that is included in each device – originally planned to offer an extension that makes the console a home computer. Before it comes to that, Bally sells the development department.
