CGL Earth Invaders

Summary

Computer Games Limited is an English company that markets games from Tomy, Coleco and Gakken under its own name CGL. Among them is Earth Invaders, a modified variant of Coleco’s Alien Attack.

The player must dig holes in Earth Invaders and thereby kill aliens. The holes are created by pressing the Dig key and a direction key. When an alien has fallen into the hole, the player has one second to bury the alien with the Bury key. The game ends when either the player has lost three lives, has reached 10,000 points, or has passed 13 minutes.

Two other manufacturers also released this game: Gakken in Japan as Heiankyo Alien, and Lindy as Alien. Earth Invaders is much more difficult than Coleco’s Alien Attack, in which the player shoots the aliens.

CGL later distributes the M5 Personal computers Home computer.
