Fujitsu FM Towns Marty

Summary
Fujitsu has nothing to do with game consoles, but the PC under the name FM Towns sells well. Thus Fujitsu converts this PC to a console, packing it in another case and introducing it to the Japanese market in 1993 under the name FM Towns Marty. Since there is already sufficient software for the FM-Towns computer - and PCs in general - and the FM Towns Marty is sufficiently compatible, many games run without modification. The device is clocked to 16 MHz with a 32-bit AMD processor, providing up-to-date graphics and sound capabilities. Fujitsu installs both a CD and a floppy drive. One year later, there is an optical update with the cheaper FM Towns Marty 2, but without faster processor. Although the sales figures are low, the consoles remain in production until 1999. Outside Japan, the devices are rare.
