Master Merlin

Summary
Master Merlin is one of the first handheld computer games. The game is very successful at the time and sells over five million copies in the USA alone.
The eleven buttons on the playing field contain small red LEDs and are used for five different games: Tic-Tac-Toe, Echo, 17 minus 4 (a form of blackjack), Magic Square (a puzzle in which all lights except the middle, upper and lower ones must be lit) and Mindbender. Merlin can also be used as a musical instrument, with each button playing a note. The sounds can be recorded and played back.
The Japanese version of Merlin is released by Parker Brothers and is named Dr. Smith. The name “Merlin” could not be translated into Japanese and so the Dr. Smith was named after the figure of the same name from the then popular TV series “Lost in Space”.
