Mattel INTELLIVOICE (Voice Synthesis Module)

Summary
As the second manufacturer after Philips, Mattel offers an extension for voice output in 1982 with the Intellivoice. The sound chip used is the same as the G7000 speech expansion, but the modules are not designed to use the strengths of the chip. The sample rate is therefore significantly lower, and the sound quality remains audible behind that of Philips. The moderate quality and video game crash contribute to the failure of the Intellivoice. After a strong start, production will be discontinued after only one year. Planned international versions of the extension in Spanish, French and German are therefore not produced. Only five games support the Intellivoice.
