Twin Famicom 3D System
Summary
In 1987 Nintendo released the Famicom 3D System, which allows games to be given spatial depth through stereoscopic effects by means of an LCD shutter goggles, thus making them appear three-dimensional. The accessories also appear for the Sharp Twin Famicom. Completely identical in content, it only differs marginally in appearance and due to the other manufacturer’s name. Only a few games like Highway Star, Falsion or Famicom Grand Prix: 3D Hot Rally, support the system.
The accessories will not be successful and will never appear outside Japan. Only in 2011 will Nintendo be successful again in the 3D area when the Nintendo 3DS appears.
