Summary

The Zodiac combines a handheld games console, media player and organiser. US company Tapwave launched it in late 2003. It runs the Palm operating system, developed by Palm Inc. for organisers and smartphones. It features a 200 MHz i.MX1 ARM9 processor, ATI Imageon graphics, a 3.8-inch touchscreen with 480x320 pixels and 65,536 colours, and the Fathammer X-Forge game engine. The standard Zodiac has 32 MB RAM; the Zodiac² has 128 MB. Both also have two SD slots. The Zodiac went on sale in England in 2004, and a German launch was planned for 2005. This never happened: at the end of 2005, Tapwave announced that it was conceding defeat to the competition and sold the rights to Motorola.
