APF M1000

Summary
The M1000 is the first console that can be expanded into a home computer. Its Imagination Machine expansion is considerably larger than the console itself. It includes a keyboard with proper keys rather than the pressure pads used by competitors, a cassette drive and a built-in speaker. The cassette deck can load and save programs, record spoken notes, and play recorded instructions for games or programming.
The complete system was offered for about $700, more than three times the price of an Atari VCS 2600. The imagination machine can be expanded with memory extensions, floppy drives or a modem.
Although only twelve games and three applications appeared, a large amount of further software was released by a very active scene of hobby programmers.
