Apple IIe, DuoDisk and Monitor

Summary
The Apple IIe was one of Apple’s most successful mass-market computers. The Apple II range began in 1977 with the Apple II, followed two years later by the Apple II Plus and the regional Apple II Europlus and J-Plus versions for Europe and Asia. The successful Apple IIe, represented in the collection, followed in 1983, alongside the DuoDisk 5.25, which combined two floppy drives in one case. The portable Apple IIc appeared in 1984, followed by the Apple IIc Plus in 1988. While the earlier Apple II computers used 8-bit processors, the Apple IIGS introduced a 16-bit processor with improved graphics and sound, hence “GS”. The Apple IIe itself came in several versions: IIe, IIe enhanced, with a 65C02 processor, 128 KiB RAM and other changes, and IIe Platinum, with a new keyboard including a separate numeric keypad and different memory. Its name was initially written Apple ][e in 1983, then Apple IIe from 1984. The Apple II series ended in November 1993.
