Camputers Lynx

Summary
The Lynx from British manufacturer Camputers reached the market in early 1983, with 48, 96 or 128 KB RAM priced at £225, £299 and £345, considerably more than a ZX Spectrum or Oric-1. A Z80A works with a Motorola 6845 video controller; the computer always displays 256 × 252 pixels in eight colours. This high resolution has a cost: screen updates are very slow. Without sprites or a sound chip—there is only a simple 6-bit converter—the Lynx is poorly suited to games. Around 60 commercial titles were released.
Computing Today magazine called it a “flawed gem”. Camputers ceased operations in June 1984 after selling around 30,000 machines. A planned successor, the Super-Lynx, was never completed.
