Commodore Amiga 1000

Summary
Commodore introduced the Amiga 1000 in the USA in summer 1985, at an event attended by pop artist Andy Warhol and singer Debbie Harry of Blondie. It launched in Germany in 1986 at 3198 DM.
The Amiga 1000 revolutionized the computer market, because the technology used was anything but ordinary for its time. A 32-bit Motorola 68000 processor and three special chips, which give the Amiga a high performance in multimedia: Agnus (later Alice) copies memory areas and contains the Copper, Denise takes over the graphic representation and Sprites, Paula realizes the sound output.
The AmigaOS operating system offers preemptive multitasking (several applications are possible at the same time) and a graphical user interface, which distinguished it from the competition at the time. Less than 30,000 models of the first Amiga model sold Commodore in Germany, which was little compared to the subsequent models.
