Sony CLIÉ

Summary
Sony distributes PDAs with the Palm operating system between 2000 and 2005. The CLIÉ series focuses on multimedia properties, i.e. photo and video display as well as audio playback, especially of compressed ATRAC3 files. This is also what the name CLIÉ stands for: creativity, lifestyle, innovation, emotion, and also communication, link, information and entertainment. To achieve the goal, Sony uses high-resolution displays and introduces a slot for memory cards.
In the 5 years there are two rows. The early series S, T, N, NR and SL/SJ uses the Motorola Dragonball CPU and is compatible with Palm OS 3.5 and 4.x. The last series NX, NZ, TG, UX, TJ, TH, VZ uses an ARM-compatible CPU and supports Palm OS 5.0 and 5.2.
As the market is stagnating with traditional palm-based devices, the CLIÉ devices take an important position on the emerging market with Windows mobile devices.
