BBC Bridge Companion

Summary

On the one hand, the console market is changing after the video game crash, on the other hand, the idea of a video game is already so widespread that niche products can also be worthwhile for a small target group.

The Bridge Companion is a console that is only released in the UK, and the only purpose is to explain the Bridge card game to the player or to deepen his bridge knowledge.

While the use of modules and the connection to a TV do not differ from other consoles, the Bridge Companion in its reduction otherwise resembles a chess computer. The selection of software is limited and thematically limited. In total, only nine modules with names such as “Advanced Defence” or “Conventions 1” appear. The operation of the Bridge Companion is also reduced and is not oriented towards other consoles, but consists of buttons for typical actions during a bridge game.
