Commodore Amiga 1200

Summary
Commodore released the Amiga 1200 keyboard computer in 1992 as the successor to the unsuccessful Amiga 600. Its introductory price in Germany was 899 DM.
The Amiga 1200 was derived from the multimedia-oriented Amiga 4000 and uses the AGA chipset. Its case takes inspiration from the Amiga 500. Commodore chose the Motorola 68EC020 as the main processor because it combined relatively strong performance with low cost.
By the end of 1993, Commodore sold 95,500 copies of the Amiga 1200 on the German market alone. For the time being, Commodore could not serve the demand for the computer. After Commodore went bankrupt in 1994, a new version of the Amiga 1200 was released in 1995 by the German company Amiga Technologies, a subsidiary of Escom. Between 20,000 and 40,000 more were sold.
Amiga Technologies also offered two software packages for the Amiga 1200, the Amiga Magic package and the Amiga Surf package.
