Commodore Amiga 4000

Summary
The Amiga 4000 is a further development of the Amiga 3000 and is in trade from 1992 to 1994. First Commodore installs a 25 MHz fast Motorola 68040 CPU (Amiga 4000/040), followed by a cheaper version Amiga 4000/EC030, which is clocked to 25 MHz.
The Amiga 4000 introduced the Advanced Graphics Architecture Chipset (AGA), replacing ECS. In Germany, the abbreviation AA was used to avoid confusion with the PC’s AGA standard. Colour depth increased from 12 to 24 bits, giving a palette of 16.7 million colours. Its maximum resolution is 1440 x 576 pixels with 256 selected colours. It includes a 120 MiB IDE hard drive; Commodore dropped the SCSI interface. It runs AmigaOS 3.0, later also used by the Amiga 1200.
In 1993, the Amiga 4000T appeared in the tower housing, again with SCSI. The computer is rare, because in 1994 Commodore goes bankrupt. Around 200 copies are sold.
