Summary

The PC Engine CoreGrafx is a Version of the PC Engine. In December 1989, NEC and Hudson Soft released them exclusively in Japan. There are three differences compared to the original PC Engine: it is black instead of white grey, has an AV output for the video output instead of an RF output and NEC/Hudson Soft revised the main processor. It is now called HuC6280a (compared to the HuC6280 in the original model) and benefits from some improvements in audio performance. The size dimensions of the PC Engine CoreGrafx are almost identical to those of the original PC Engine.

About a year and a half later, in June 1991, the PC Engine CoreGrafx II was released in Japan.
