Sega Game Gear

Summary
The Game Gear is a portable game console from Sega and was positioned directly against the Nintendo Game Boy (Classic). However, he could hardly gain market share compared to the small Game Boy, although the Game Gear shows good technical features and can be easily ported by the hardware similarity to the Sega Master System games. A big advantage of Game Gear is its disadvantage at the same time: the display has a backlight, so the batteries were exhausted after six hours — not exactly what players want from a mobile console. An additional battery pack was available like other accessories, such as a Sega Game Gear TV Tuner. Since the Game Boy was a bit more on the market and also cheaper, the Game Gear is constantly running behind.
Special Edition Magic Knight Rayearth

In 1994, Sega released a red Game Gear in Japan, designed according to the Manga series Magic Knight Rayearth of the drawing collective CLAMP. The packaging shows illustrations of CLAMP and announces the new Game Gear with colorful red case. The game module Magic Knight Rayearth and a Mokona-amulet are printed.
