Summary

After the Atari 7800, Atari takes almost 10 years for further development. The Jaguar appears in 1993 at a price of 249.99 US dollars. Although the console is powerful, it remains commercially unsuccessful. This is due to the outstanding competition like PlayStation and unloved games. Nevertheless, over a hundred titles appear, most of them on module. Atari sells between 125,000 and 250,000 devices. The console still has a very active community.

The strength of Jaguar’s technology is clearly reflected in Jaguar VR, the first virtual reality glasses intended for the mass market. The Jaguar will be discontinued before the extension is published. Today there are only two functional prototypes of the glasses.

The Jaguar is no longer developed by Atari itself, but instead the contract is awarded to a British company. After this failure Atari withdraws from the console business.
