Summary

At the time of launch, the Xbox 360 is still subject to some technical problems. In particular, the so-called “Red Ring Of Death”, which is expressed by three red, luminous diodes on the console’s turn-on button, is synonymous with the hardware problems of Xbox 360. Above all, overheating leads to a high number of damaged devices, which causes Microsoft to revise the console and equip it with a self-protection mechanism against too high heat. Due to this measure and due to the addition of an HDMI output, which makes the Xbox 360 the first gaming console with HD resolution, (starting from Xbox 360 Elite, 2007) the console is becoming a bestseller. By June 2014, 84 million Xbox-360 consoles had been sold worldwide. In addition, the Xbox 360 appeals to players through various online features such as multiplayer gaming and the ability to download digital content.
