Nintendo 64

Summary
The Nintendo 64 appears late in the 5th generation, one and a half years after PlayStation, but is the first console with a 64-bit processor. It is developed in collaboration with the 3D specialist Silicon Graphics and relies entirely on spatial play. The technical limitations, however, cause the graphics of the games to appear blurred.
Nintendo brought many familiar series into 3D for the first time on the N64. Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in particular are regarded as milestones in their genres.
As the only well-known manufacturer Nintendo dispenses with the now obligatory CD-ROM drive, not least because of fear of pirated copies. This is a problem for game developers, because the production of the modules is expensive, has to be officially licensed via Nintendo, and the storage capacity of about 64 MiB is low. However, there are no loading times compared to machines with slow CD drives.
